Each raker bar is hand-forged from 4140 steel by local blacksmiths. Each raker bar comes with sharpened tip ends. These bad boys here are mainly used in historic masonry restoration for removal of mortar & grout joints in Brick, Block, Stone, Tile and other masonry units. Rakers are available in 6 sizes.
- 18" long x 1/2 thick steel
- 24" long x 1/2" thick steel
- 18" long x 5/8" thick steel
- 24" long x 5/8" thick steel
- 18" long x 3/4" thick steel
- 24" long x 3/4" thick steel
The thicker steel sized tools will aid in the mortar removal and last much longer. The downside will be they are heavier and can wear ya out right quick. The most common sizes I see used by tuckpointers around here are the 5/8" or 3/4" x 18", but everyone has their own taste.
