Designed to fit into the ear canal, earplugs are an economical alternative to earmuffs and are more comfortable when working in hot or humid work areas. They can be used with hard hats, faceshields, safety glasses, and similar protective equipment that may not be as compatible with earmuffs. Plugs must be properly inserted into the ears to achieve optimal protection. Pair them with earmuffs to increase the overall noise reduction rating (NRR) by 5 decibels (dB).
Joined by a cord, these earplugs can be hung around the neck when not in use, and quickly reinserted as needed. They are less likely to be lost than individual plugs because if one plug falls out, the other may hold in place.
